Restaurant at the Burj in Dubai inspiration for Anglesea home
THE restaurant attached to the Burj Al Arab in Dubai provided inspiration for an Anglesea engineer to design a unique house.
Like the tower on the Persian Gulf, the house at 1a River Reserve Rd stands out from the crowd.
The house, that was built less than a year ago, measures 450sq m and is positioned on a 1300sq m block of land that is across the road from the Anglesea River.
The large house is made up of five bedrooms, a study, open-plan living area, formal dining room, rumpus room, cellar and four-car garage.
Hayden, Anglesea agent Andrew Wright said there was no plaster in the entire house.
“It is all timber, spotted gum, marine ply and solid bamboo floors. Nothing was left to chance,” Mr Wright said.
The open-plan living area has a kitchen with substantial walk-in pantry, two ovens, a central island bench with a breakfast bar, dedicated hot water supply, considerable storage and a servery window out to the balcony.
A skylight above the kitchen lets ample natural light flood into the space during the day.
The kitchen accompanies a casual meals area and loungeroom with fireplace.
Glass sliding doors connect the open-plan living area with the covered balcony outside that provides protected views of the river.
The formal dining room is next to the living area and has two walls of windows that brings nature inside.
Opposite the formal dining room is the main bedroom with walk-in wardrobe and ensuite.
A hallway off the living area leads to three bedrooms and a study. They all have built-in wardrobes while two of them also have ensuites.
To get to the lower floor there’s a staircase or a commercial grade lift that will hold five people.
The ground floor is made up of the four-car garage and workshop, cellar, store room, rumpus room and sewing room or fifth bedroom.
The house has a six-star energy rating and also has an eight camera security system and wiring for sound, data and entertainment.
Outside two 18,000l rainwater storage tanks take care of the vegetable gardens and fruit trees.
The dramatic curves and compelling design is what makes this family home contemporary and timeless.
Price hopes for the property are $2.6 million to $2.85 million.
