Bryan has been immersed in the Geelong and Surf Coast area for his whole life and is a well respected member of the community. His love of the area began when his spent holidays in Torquay at his parents beach house, with many long days out in the surf. His knowledge of the area is thorough and, though it is an often overused term, truly second to none.
After completing what would be the equivalent of today a degree in property valuation at RMIT, he started his career as a valuer with the Australian Taxation Office. Being drawn to the coast, he took over the valuation practice of B.E. Hayden & Co in 1974, covering Ballarat, Geelong and the emerging coastal markets. He was appointed Branch Manager of the Torquay office and has been a constant presence ever since. Commencing trading in 1947, Hayden Real Estate is the oldest existing business in Torquay.
With 37 successful years in the local community, Bryan has stood by his philosophy that good and reliable service is essential for business. He ensures that the stability and integrity of his staff are always at the pinnacle of his business. He reminds them that they are in the service industry, therefore dependability and integrity are to be their constant aim.
Bryan has been directly involved in many developments within and around his community and has played no small part in helping it become the booming region it is today.
He believes that there are many reasons for this but the three that stand out to him are the completion of the Westgate Bridge that increased traffic from Melbourne, the 1983 Ash Wednesday bushfires that saw the tradesmen who helped rebuild stay around for the great lifestyle and the evolving of the iconic surf industry.
With adequate land around the area for growth, the new Ring Road and not to mention, some of the best surf breaks in the world, Bryan believes that the future of Surf Coast is unlimited.
